Spiritual WealthYou cannot achieve ultimate or true wealth without spiritual wealth. Spirituality gives many people the image of a tambourine playing bald hippie type person chanting a mantra. This is how I used to perceive spiritual wealth or spirituality right up until I was 39 years old. So what happened to me at that age? Why did I start to look at spirituality a bit more closely? Well the truth of the matter is I had been working hard to improve my financial situation but didn't seem to be getting anywhere fast. I also was experiencing a deep unhappiness inside of me inspite of being very motivated to achieve financial wealth. This lead me on a journey to achieve not only financial wealth but more importantly spiritual wealth. So what is spirituality? This is my understanding of spirituality. When we are born we have no personality or ego. As we grow up this personality or ego develops within a regime of existing beliefs and perceptions perpetuated by parents, guardians, media and government etc. In other words ego is false or just a perception of oneself within tight parameters set by your environment when you are developing. It is not the real you! What I am trying to say is that spirituality and therefore spiritual wealth is a state of mind or experience which does not rely on our conscious interpretation of self and our very limited five senses. Spiritual wealth is awareness of our true self. The fastest way to get to this awareness is by meditation.
Spiritual wealth is the realisation that the body and ego that we have been taught to identify ourselves with is an illusion. Our true self is something much bigger and already connected to God and the universe and perhaps our true goal in life is to awaken to this realisation. It is interesting to notice that up until now there seems to be two distinct types of thinking - or should I say existing beliefs or perceptions. On the one hand we have the perception that if you are to be truly spiritual you need to renounce all material possessions and good time experiences. On the other hand to be successful you need to be very single minded, work 20hrs a day, neglect family, friends and your inner or true self. I believe both these ways are wrong and a much better and more balanced way is to have both external and internal wealth. This is what I call ultimate or true wealth. It is important to recognise that you are a human being with dreams and desires and a short time on planet earth, therefore it is reasonable to assume you would want to increase your external or material wealth. However it is important that this should not be at the exclusion of internal or spiritual wealth. The paradox is that you cannot achieve true or ultimate wealth without having both internal and external wealth. One relies on the other. There are plenty of examples of rich people who are unhappy. Many celebrities seem to fall into this category. There are also many examples of poor people who are unhappy. To become truly wealthy we must experience both internal and external wealth. The problem seems to be with the way the world works today. Everything is geared towards speed and materialism. Everybody has to get to their destination as soon as possible, people don't have the time to speak and if they do they are multitasking or thinking about something that lies in the future. We have become a society who want instant gratification and pleasure which is of course big business and therefore perpetuated by marketing and media. We are almost afraid to sit quietly without thinking, just in case we miss out on something when the truth of the matter is quite different. If we were to sit without thinking and do it regularly we would become connected with our true selves and experience the power of the moment. When you can do this you will realise that this is the source of all your power and creativity, not the constant multitasking and gratifications society throws at us. Meditating is one of the best ways to become connected to this inner power. If you want help with this then use holosync technology. I use this regularly and highly recommend it.
